”Thank you for the guided walk. It was a lovely event, so informative and well organized and great to hear Irish being used so naturally as part of the tour”. - Hidden Forkhill
“There was a great buzz-everything was wonderful, the food, history and storytelling were spot on,beautiful music- very haunting at the graveside, you (Venora)are a born organizer and raconteur, it all flowed effortlessly. Annmarie at the pub could not have been more helpful. I felt very safe” - Hidden Forkhill
“A great day out…the combination of music, history and storytelling was magical. I didn’t know the history of my own area as I was never taught at school. The Harp music at the graveside sent shivers up my spine, you really looked after us well- you have a gift for putting people at their ease….” - The Poet's trail to Urney
I spent a wonderful invigorating day exploring hidden Forkhill through History Poetry and Song. Venora, our guide, Gerry and I went on a 2 hour walk exploring the fascinating plantation village of Forkhill. We were met in the graveyard here Peadar O’Doirnin (a local poet) lies and Colleen Savage read two of his poems. Tranquil walk back to The Welcome Inn where Ann Marie opened her pub to wonderful wholesome food, songs by Colleen Savage, storytelling and poetry. Amazing and memorable day. I will be back Forkhill! -Hidden Forkhill
